Up And Coming Drivers – Who To Watch
Of all the sensational drivers to keep an eye on, a few stand out: Danica Patrick, Joey Logano, and Trevor Bayne.
OK, ladies first. Born in Wisconsin, Danica Patrick is the rookie sensation of the Indy Racing League in the 7 Chevy Impala. She finished second at the Formula Ford Festival 2000, which made her the highest placing American in the race’s history. She was the fourth woman ever to drive in the Indianapolis 500 in 2005, and also the first female to ever lead in that race. She got the Indy Racing League’s Rookie of the Year award that same year.
Joey Logano is on the Joe Gibbs racing team in the 7 Toyota. Born on May 24th, 1990, he won the NASCAR nationwide series when he was just eighteen years old. Other awards include the 2005 Hooter’s Pro Cup Series start and the 2009 Sprint Cup series win.
Trevor Bayne drives the 21 Ford Fusion. He was the winner of the NACSAR Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500 on February 20, 2011. After they waved checkered flag, his response was “Are you kidding me?”. The only other major win for the Knoxville native was a trucks race in 2008.
